Fun Time’s annual fundraiser, “Fun Time Blasts Off Into the Future”, was held on February 10, 2012, at The Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club. More than 370 guests celebrated the space theme by dressing in futuristic garb, blending in with many costumed board and event committee members.
Executive Director Franny Kain was a convincing Amelia Earhart, a true pioneer in flight. Board chair Val Trotman took a more futuristic direction in her attire, as did event chairs Sue Manion and Priscilla Washburn. Honorary co-chairs for the event were Mary and Gene Frey, longtime supporters of Fun Time. Mayor Bill Barnett served as auctioneer. Fifth Third Bank was the event’s presenting sponsor.
Fred McCrary, part of the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots in 2003, was this year’s distinguished alumnus. He grew up in the River Park area, where Fun Time is located, and went on to academic and athletic success, proceeding through Naples public schools and on to college, where he was recruited to join the NFL. He returns to Naples each year and continues to support programs that will help the children of his hometown community.
It was a blast!
