Fun Time’s 50th Birthday fundraising event on February 12, 2011, was an enormous success! More than 370 guests celebrated this major milestone at the Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club, some of them joining in the fun by dressing up as clowns and storybook characters.
Executive director Franny Kain was a perfect Mary Poppins. Board co-chair Sue Manion was the Queen of Hearts and her husband Peter was one of several clowns. Chair-elect and event chair Val Trotman was dressed as a court jester. Generous supporters purchased “birthday candles” for the giant birthday cake created by committee members Carol Munro and Nancy Zink, the proceeds going toward tuition assistance.
Fifth-Third Bank was presenting sponsor for the event and longtime board member Michael Watkins and Ellin Goetz served as honorary co-chairs. Rufino Hernandez, owner of the Garden District, was awarded the inaugural Fun Time Distinguished Alumni award.
Master of Ceremonies, Mayor Bill Barnett kept everything in order and as the auctioneer, along with committee member Ken Deedy, conducted a most exciting and successful live auction.
